What is the Holocaust?
The Holocaust was the systematic annihilation of six million Jews by the Nazi regime during World War 2. In 1933 approximately nine million Jews lived in the 21 countries of Europe that would be occupied by Germany during the war. By 1945 two out of every three European Jews had been killed. The European Jews were the primary victims of the Holocaust.
But Jews were not the only group singled out for persecution by Hitler�s Nazi regime. As many as one-half million Gypsies, at least 250,000 mentally or physically disabled persons, and more than three million Soviet prisoners-of-war also fell victim to Nazi genocide. Jehovah�s Witnesses, homosexuals, Social Democrats, Communists, partisans, trade unionists, Polish intelligentsia and other undesirables were also victims of the hate and aggression carried out by the Nazis.
Before we read, Look through the photos. tell me what you see, what you know, how you feel about them, and any questions you have in regards to this event.
After viewing the pictures above i see alot of suffering jews that look hungry, I know that there were plenty of concentration camps thats were still had jews in them after hitler died.
ReplyDeleteAfter observing the pictures, Ive noticed a lot of terrified and depressed Jews. The looks of their faces are filled with terror not knowing when they're going to die. It saddens me to see so many deceased innocent Jews, especially young children. Its also sad for young children or other family member to witness their loved ones get killed.
ReplyDeleteI think that this was a HORRIBLE thing that happened it is very sad and tragic in the pictures there are people that are shown that are so skinny and look hungry and sick.

ReplyDeleteafter seeing the picture of the little boys, its sad how children died at such a young age. in some pictures you can see how much people are suffereing and how Nazis dont care if they are children and women they will take anyone. the Holocaust is such a terrible event that greatly damaged the Jews and their way of living. one picture shows how theres people laying dead and other people dont care. i just wonder how come people dont have any feelings and were able to kill that many people.
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at the photos above, I have concluded that they are accurate representations of the horrors that were present during the Holocaust. Because Germany knew that it was losing the war, Hitler turned their focus toward the persecution of the Jews, which eventually led to the planning of their systematic destruction. Hitler felt that his duty was to preserve the so called "Aryan" race, and annihilate all other groups that he considered tainted. Hitler suggested that all the mentally ill, and crippled had originally came from the Jew, and so he began planning their destruction through the many concentration and extermination camps that were implemented during the war. At these camps millions died from malnutrition and disease, and millions more died from shootings and gassings.
ReplyDeleteI have read about the concentration camps, i think that it is really sad, i try to put myself in their shoes but I can't peoples' minds could be really out of control, it trips me out because, did they really have that much hatred towards them? did they really think that was the right thing to do. It makes me mad that they treated little kids like that too.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of the holocaust are very sad. the Jews look so hungry and tired. It is surprising to me that one deranged man could be able to brainwash and control a whole army to do theses hateful crime. I think these pictures are proof enough that the holocaust did happen and these people did suffer. I don't think that any group of people deserve to be treated in this way. No race or group of people are better than another.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think this story is about is the time when Hitler was trying to take over the world and trying to make only one race. The Holocaust was one of the worst times in history and it was even worser for the jews. I think this story is gonna be about someone that survived the holocaust.
